A good way to start December: Alongside Mark Cuban and Carpenter Capital, we’re proud to lead a $3.3 million seed round for Clipbook as they accelerate the next era of AI-powered research and analysis for communications and public affairs teams.
Since our initial investment just over a year ago, founder Adam Joseph and the Clipbook team have executed, growing ARR by multiples and garnering significant enterprise adoption.
The problem with media monitoring
Nearly every enterprise, and every public agency, navigates a complex set of challenges across the information space - from news and social media to government regulation and policy. But a large part of these workflows - across research, analysis, and engagement - involves manual and time-consuming processes driven primarily by knowledge workers. The space and its teams have been serviced by a long-tail of legacy traditional SaaS providers that are built primarily on pre-AI infrastructure and are ripe for disruption.
Several members of the Commonweal team have personally experienced the pain of doing this work with the old tools in the communications toolbox.

The market is big. Communications is one of the largest professional segments globally. With over 400,000 public relations and public affairs professionals in the United States, enterprises collectively spend billions on corporate affairs.
The "why now" is obvious. AI provides the opportunity to transform workflows and capabilities for professional services segments.
Adam Joseph, Clipbook’s Founder and CEO, is a born leader. He brings a rare mix of domain expertise and entrepreneurial discipline. From helping scale unicorns at the earliest stages to cutting his teeth as a communications leader himself and refining his operational skills at BCG, Adam knows how to build the product, team, and growth engine that will yield venture scale. To-date, Adam has assembled a world-class set of startup leaders across product, engineering, and go-to-market. In parallel, he’s assembled a group of leading communications operators, from former White House Communications Directors to government agency leaders and beyond.
